Trash Service Salisbury Township
Please make sure to have your township provided waste and recycling carts curbside the night before your service day.
- Only the carts issued by the township can be used.
- Your carts should be at least 3 feet clear of any other objects including other carts, mailboxes, cars, street signs, etc.
- Wheels on your cart should be toward the house so that all materials are emptied.
- Carts should be as close to the curb as possible but no further than six feet away from the curb edge.
We cannot take:
- Hazardous waste including radioactive, reactive, toxic, ignitable, corrosive, or acidic items.
- E-waste including televisions, computers, etc.
- C & D including materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations.
Additional Cart Lease
Salisbury Township residents can lease a 2nd trash cart for additional waste for a one time fee.
Please contact the Whitetail Municipal Department to pay for and schedule delivery of a 2nd cart.

Bulk Waste
Large items of refuse including, but not limited to, furniture, carpet, mattresses, and appliances.
- This does not include construction debris: waste building materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations.
Mattresses and Toilets
For our employees’ safety:
- Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic.
- Toilets must be bagged.
How to Schedule
Contact our Municipality Department by 12pm on Friday to schedule bulk items for collection the following week:
Recycling Services
Recyclables must be clean and dry.
Do not bag recyclables.
If your recycling is contaminated it will be handled as trash.
Acceptable Items
All bottles and containers must be rinsed clean and dry.
Dirty recycling is contaminated recycling.
Shredded paper cannot be recycle. It clogs the recycling sorting line.
If paper is soiled or wet, compost or trash it.
Must be broken down.
If cardboard is soiled, compost or trash it.
Make sure containers are rinsed out and completely empty to avoid contamination.

Unacceptable Items
Plastic bags are not accepted as part of curbside recycling programs – they get tangled in equipment and threaten worker safety.
Plastic bags can be recycled at most grocery stores.
Plastic wrap, bubble wrap, sandwich bags and freezer bags should not go in the recycle bin.
Reuse whenever possible for presents, moving, or storage of similar items, or look for local options to recycle.
Flexible packaging like chip bags and juice or soup pouches cannot be recycled in curbside programs.
This type of packaging is made from multiple materials preventing it from being recycled.
Food and yard was cannot be recycled through our curbside program.
Compost or utilize UMT’s yard waste program.
Shredded paper is too small to be properly processed at the recycling facility.
Polystyrene foam, plastic “to-go” containers and cups are made of non-recyclable materials, and are not acceptable in the curbside recycling program.
Packing peanuts aren’t recyclable either, however some shipping stores will take peanuts back for reuse.
Yard Waste and Leaves
Salisbury Township provides several yard waste drop off locations.
Please check back with the township for 2024 dates and hours.
Yard waste will not be collected with the regular waste service.
The Department of Public Works will be conducting curbside Christmas tree collection every Tuesday in the month of January.
To ensure proper pickup, please place your trees at the curb free of ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc. prior to your desired Tuesday collection day. Trees do not have to be cut in half.

Commonly Asked Questions
Yes, residents must use the trash and recycle carts provided by the township. After it is delivered personal equipment will not be serviced.
Please contact us if you need to lease a 2nd trash cart.
- Break down and flatten large boxes that do not fit in recycle cart.
- Stack boxes neatly.
- Secure with tape or twine.
Bundles should be 4′ long x 1′ thick or less.
One (1) bundle per week can be put out next to the recycling cart.
